BT Launches New International Division to Focus on Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence
According to foreign media reports, British Telecom (BT) has officially established an international business unit to serve overseas customers, and the telecommunications giant continues to focus its core business on the UK.
It is understood that BT International will operate as a dedicated business unit under the BT Group and provide its own products and platforms.
The new business unit will provide improved Global Voice and Global Fabric products, aiming to provide modern communication and connection infrastructure support for multinational organizations; it will also provide British Telecom (BT)'s new Network as a Service (NaaS) platform, which was officially launched earlier this year and has been serving customer traffic.
Bas Burger, CEO of BT Global Services, said that the new department will transform from "a fragmented traditional international network to a platform designed with artificial intelligence, network and cloud computing at its core."
The international business adjustment comes at a time when BT's overseas business is in trouble. The company's latest financial report shows that its commercial department revenue fell by 4%, mainly due to the decline in sales of traditional products and the further shrinkage of overseas business.
